Regional Occupation List (ROL)

The Regional Occupation List (ROL) is available for some critical skilled visa programs. Through these programs, an applicant will be nominated for the positions available in Regional Areas of Australia. It includes a bunch of skilled occupations which is determined by the Department of Employment (DoE) and the Department of Home Affairs.

For aspirants who have a nomination by the State or Territory government, this list is relevant. If nominated for ROL occupation, the aspirant will not be able to live and work in metropolitan areas in Australia for certain years.

If the aspirant’s occupation is on the ROL and the employer is sponsoring the aspirant. Then the visa is granted for one, two or three years, which is decided by the Employment.

In addition to the Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL) and the Short-term Skilled Occupation List (STSOL), there is also the ROL. All occupations used for purposes of immigration are from the ANZSCO (Australia and New Zealand Skilled Classification of Occupations).
