Migration Tasmania has provided further clarity on how skilled employment (ANZSCO Skill Level 1-3) is assessed. The determination process involves evaluating multiple factors to ensure the role qualifies as skilled.
Key Considerations:
-
Skills and Qualifications, Duties, and Pay:
- To qualify as skilled employment, skills and qualifications, job duties, and pay rate must align with the ANZSCO Skill Level 1-3 requirements.
- If these factors are inconsistent, the role may not be considered skilled.
-
Pay Rate as an Indicator of Skilled Employment:
- A pay rate above the Temporary Skilled Migration Income Threshold (TSMIT), currently $73,150, may indicate skilled employment.
- However, roles paying at or near the National Minimum Wage are not considered skilled and cannot contribute towards attributes like gold, green, or orange-plus.
-
Industry Awards and Agreements:
- Migration Tasmania may consult relevant industry awards or agreements to validate whether the job duties match skilled employment.
- These references help align roles with the appropriate ANZSCO classifications and pay rates.
